It took almost no time at all to set this up, throw one in each corner like I did and screw them in to the corner wall studs, the base mounting points can rotate and perfectly be centered and angled downwards for perfect tracking
HTC Vive Site:
I can truly say this thing is very comfortable, lots of nose room, and the strap is very comfortable, the wire helps with balancing some weights and having headphones on does also help adding more comfort and counter balance to it

The Headphones I use with the headset are the HyperX Cloud 2s

More Information:
The HTC VIVE is a pioneering virtual reality (VR) headset developed by HTC in collaboration with Valve Corporation. As one of the first major consumer VR products released in 2016, the VIVE aimed to deliver an immersive VR experience, allowing users to explore vast virtual worlds and engage in interactive content in ways that traditional gaming could not.
Unboxing
The unboxing of the HTC VIVE is an exciting experience for any tech enthusiast or VR aficionado. Inside the sleek, well-designed packaging, you will typically find:
- HTC VIVE Headset: The primary device that you wear on your head, equipped with dual OLED displays that allow for a high-quality visual experience.
- Lighthouse Base Stations: Two base stations that serve as external reference points to track your position in the VR space. These need to be mounted in opposite corners of your play area.
- Controllers: Two wireless handheld controllers that allow you to interact with the virtual environment, giving you the ability to point, grab, and manipulate virtual objects.
- Cable and Adapters: Typically, the kit includes a variety of cables and adapters needed for power, USB connectivity, and HDMI connection to your computer.
- Getting Started Guide: A manual that provides setup instructions, safety warnings, and helpful tips for first-time users.
Quick Setup
Setting up the HTC VIVE involves several steps to ensure that everything works seamlessly. The quick setup generally involves:
Creating a Play Area: Designate a space large enough for movement during VR sessions. The recommended area is about 6.5 feet by 5 feet, but larger spaces can provide a more enjoyable experience.
Mounting Base Stations: Secure the Lighthouse base stations in diagonal corners of the play area, ensuring they are positioned at least 6.5 feet high and angled downward. This setup allows for optimal tracking of the headset and controllers.
Connecting the Headset: Make sure to connect the VIVE headset to your gaming PC via a USB port and HDMI. You may also need to plug in the power supply to keep the headset functioning.
Installing Software: Download and install the necessary software, typically the VIVE software and SteamVR, to enable the headset to interface with your PC and access VR content.
- Room Setup: Use the VIVE software to define your boundaries and adjust settings according to the space available. The software will guide you through the process of mapping out a safe area to play in.
Close Look
Upon taking a close look at the HTC VIVE, several features that define its capabilities become apparent:
Display Quality: The headset features dual 1080 x 1200 resolution (one for each eye) and a 90 Hz refresh rate, allowing for smooth visuals and reducing motion sickness for users.
Comfort and Design: The VIVE is designed with user comfort in mind. It has an adjustable head strap and a padded face cushioning, ensuring a snug fit for prolonged use.
Tracking Technology: The VIVE uses an external tracking system with the Lighthouse base stations to achieve precise tracking of head and controller movements. This system enables 360-degree tracking, allowing users to move freely within the defined space.
Audio Experience: The headset comes with built-in headphones that provide immersive audio, enhancing the overall experience by aligning sound with the visuals in the VR environment.
- Expansive Ecosystem: The HTC VIVE is compatible with a wide range of VR games and applications available on the Steam platform, encompassing genres from gaming to education, virtual tourism, and productivity tools.
Conclusion
The HTC VIVE revolutionized the way users interact with virtual environments and set a high standard for subsequent VR systems. Its unboxing experience, quick setup process, and advanced technology make it a go-to choice for those looking to delve into the immersive world of virtual reality. Whether for gaming or professional applications, the VIVE remains a significant player in the VR landscape.
